Amazing stuff in Bay Shore, Long Island, after a mom that gave birth while on a ventilator is finally discharged and had the chance to hold her baby for the first time.
On April the 2nd, Yanira Soriano, 36, arrived at Southside Hospital when she was critically ill because of pneumonia caused by the Coronavirus. Yanina was 34 weeks pregnant and the medical staff decided to put her on a ventilator while executing a C-section.
According to Chief of Neonatology Dr. Gina Murza, Yanina was terrified by the thought of dying and having her son being orphan of her for the rest of his life. She just asked the personnel to save the baby while she thought she was going to die.
Eventually, the baby was born the following day. She was put on an induced coma while on the ventilator and she beat the virus after being quite close to pass away.
The rest is just a big nice story as Yanina was dismissed with the ritual clapping, but even better she then reunited wither her son as soon as she was dismissed.
Dr. Benjamin Schwartz, chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southside Hospital, commented: “As you know, many patients that end up on a ventilator with a COVID-pneumonia do not survive, and the fact that this mom not only survived but was able to get out of her wheelchair and walk into her car and hold her baby gives us all incredible hope for future patients and our existing patients that have COVID disease.”
