Climate activist Greta Thunberg hit the headlines all over the world when she was just 16 for her strong words and actions in support of the environment.
Now 17, she keeps on helping important causes to donate $100,000 to support children affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Greta received the money from Human Act, a Danish worldwide development organization. However, she redirected the money to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that helps “to protect children from food shortages, strained healthcare systems, violence and lost school days.”
Greta released the following statement: “I’m asking everyone to step up and join me in support of UNICEF’s vital work to save children’s lives, to protect health and continue education.
Like the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic is a child-rights crisis. It will affect all children, now and in the long-term, but vulnerable groups will be impacted the most.”
