It’s a tough time for everyone and new ways to have good vibes have to be found. This is what is also happening in Cuba where artists are finding some inspiration in the best areas that they can reach: rooftops and balconies.

Alejandro and Leticia Silva were deeply disappointed after their troupe’s world tour was suddenly canceled in Britain. Therefore, they decided to rehearse ballet on the terrace of their seaside apartment with the uplifting sound of the ocean.

Alejandro commented: “Now it has been easier for me to collaborate with my sister when it comes to doing choreography to know what we are thinking when it comes to dancing when it comes to training as we do it together, more united.”

Arelys Hernandez dances in the same company as Alejandro and Leticia, and she is also practicing outdoor (on the rooftop) to comment: “I think that the dissatisfaction of being locked up in all this will motivate creating. And surely the choreographers are going to take advantage of those feelings that we have accumulated during all this time of confinement.”

Finally, well-known saxophonist Michel Herrera delighted the surrounding with his performance from the rooftop. He commented:

“I think that somehow the times changed, or this time made us all change. I am used to working with different musicians, with big bands, making arrangements and productions where many people get together, and currently, I am taking advantage of my time from home, working alone.”
