Fantastic news from the paradisiac island of Mauritius as the local government declares that there are no active cases in the country.

According to the country’s ministry of health, there are no active cases for the last 15 days. Therefore, so far the country recorded in total 332 cases with 10 deaths and 322 recoveries.

Mauritius was one of the first countries in the world to impose the local ban on inbound travel. At the very beginning there was an outcry when they started sending back tourists on their arrival. Eventually, the tough lockdown paid off with “just” 10 deaths.

Mauritius has a population of 1.2 million people and it is heavily dependant on tourism. Therefore, like many other countries in the world, their economy is meant to suffer in the months to come.

The local citizens can rely on an excellent healthcare system with almost 73% of the services provided by the public sector that provides free-of-charge primary, secondary and specialized medical care to all citizens and primary healthcare to foreigners.
